Chinese Oceanographers Choose Aquadopps for Pilot Project

As a sign that Nortek’s Aquadopp Current Meter is truly the standard instrument for ocean current measurements, oceanographers at the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS), have chosen it for its pilot project “Western Pacific Ocean System (WPOS): Structure, Dynamics and Consequences.” A total of 69 Deepwater Aquadopps will be used to provide 3D current measurement at various deep water sites.

Flux Measurements by Eddy Correlation in Benthic Environments Using the Nortek Vector

Flux Measurements by Eddy Correlation in Benthic Environments Using the Nortek Vector

Researchers at the University of Virginia and Florida State University team up to quantify sediment-water fluxes of oxygen using the noninvasive eddy correlation technique. The fluxes, used as proxy for carbon cycling, are derived from simultaneous measurements of water velocity and oxygen concentration. The Nortek Vector has become the velocimeter of choice for these measurements due to its ability to record external sensor outputs – in this case oxygen – along with velocity data.
